Dr. Jörn Verhasselt

Dr. Jörn Verhasselt was born in 1969 and studied physics at the RWTH Aachen University with the focus on experimental solid state physics. He wrote his diploma thesis at the Research Centre of Jülich. He then commenced to work with the focus on material sciences and wrote his PhD at the Institute for Physical Metallurgy and Metal Physics at the RWTH Aachen University within the framework of a scholarship of the graduate college “Melting, Solidification and internal Boundary”. While writing his diploma thesis, Jörn Verhasselt as an inventor first got in touch with the patent law. He finished his patent attorney training that he did subsequent to his PhD in 2003.
Today Jörn Verhasselt takes care of national and international companies mostly in patent granting procedures and patent infringement procedures. He prepares expert opinions and FTO analyses. Mechanical engineering, e.g. horizontal drilling technology as well as superfine filters and technical applications in the Life Science sector, e. g. biotechnological analytical equipment, are among his main areas.
