Reimar König studied metallurgy at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule in Aachen and at the Berlin Technical University, graduating in 1959. After two years in the Research Department of the Buderus’che Eisenwerke in Wetzlar, he obtained his doctorate in engineering science in 1962 from the Munich Technical University. In 1965, after qualifying as a patent attorney, he joined the Düsseldorf patent practice of Dr. Ing. Eichenberg/Dipl.-Ing.Sauerland (later Dr.-Ing. König/ Dipl.-Ing.Bergen). For many years Dr. König served on the Board and on various committees of the “Patentanwaltskammer”, and since 1989 he has been a member of the Board of the Bundesverband Deutscher Patentanwälte (Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys). From 1979 to 1999 he held an honorary judicial appointment–since 1987 as a judge in the Senate for Patent Attorney matters in the Federal Supreme Court. Reimar König has contributed since 1988 as a university lecturer on intellectual property law. From 1991 until the end if 2001 was the editor of the professional journal ”Mitteilungen der deutschen Patentanwälte”. In some 40 publications and numerous lectures and seminars both in Germany and abroad he has covered issues of patent and utility model law, with particular reference to the law relating to infringement, and also trade mark and procedural law and the law relating to the patent attorney’s profession. In 1996 his scientific achievements, his work as editor and his professional involvement, were recognised by the award of the Verdienstkreuz (Order of Merit) of the Federal Republic of Germany. |
